The monster hit list of horror films

The horror genre has been around for some time now. Since the beginning of time man has created creatures and monsters to fill their stories and scare listeners. Now we watch them on the big screen! Today I have compiled a monster hit list. That is, a list of the best horror movies of all time. Now I know everyone has their own personal favourites. Everyone can find something wrong with one movie or another. This list wasn’t created by you though. It was created by me!

Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

This film is what created the whole zombie genre and brought horror to the adult audiences. Horror was once only aimed at children and emphasised costumes. Now millions of adults every year attend horror movie showings to scare themselves and their children! The zombie genre has also seen an incredible boost over the years with zombies now being used in not only movies but novels and video games.

The Omen (1976)

Satan is coming was something people only read in the Bible. Now it can be seen in movies, video games, and books all thanks to the movie The Omen. Not only did this movie give us the popular character Damien Thorn, a pop culture figure known for being pure evil. It also showed that big name stars could play in horror films and not have to worry about a public relation nightmare!

The Exorcist (1973)

The Exorcist was considered by many to be the scariest movie of all time. That is, until new movies came out… This particular film brought exorcism to the masses and gave birth to the genre of priest who has lost his faith against a demon possessed human.

Alien (1979)

Alien is the movie that brought horror to sci-fi. It established director Ridley Scott as Hollywood’s most talented. Ridley Scott then went on to produce another ground-breaking movie named Blade Runner. I bet you know about that movie too!

The Ring (2002)

This movie brought the Japanese horror scene over to US shores. This movie was so different from the American slasher films that it spawned a handful of copycats: The Grudge, Dark Water, and The Eye are just a few that come to mind.

There you have it. The horror films of horror films! You can’t get any better then the ones listed above.
